Murals & Public Art Tour
3 hours – Moderate
Philadelphia is the mural capital of the world!
We partnered with Mural Arts Philadelphia to create this tour highlighting some of Philly’s newest (and lesser known) murals. Learn about the history of the Mural Arts program and its uniquely Philly origin. Experience the many different forms murals can take, and consider their ability to transform a building, landscape, or entire neighborhood!
We’ll explore the Manayunk neighborhood in order to find some “out of the way” murals. We’ll ride the Manayunk Canal Towpath, one of the city’s top hidden gems and home to some of the most colorful, striking, and unconventional public art projects. This tour also includes several extended stretches of riding along the Schuylkill river, and about fifteen miles of total riding, which is why we’ve rated it “moderate” even though it’s relatively flat.
from our reviews…
“We had a great time discovering murals tucked away under bridges and on the sides of buildings that I’d never noticed, learning about the history of the Mural Arts Project!”
“It was very well planned tour. We spend little bit over than 3 hours riding our bikes. We didn’t realise we cycled 15 miles. We took enough breaks and saw some amazing murals. Bec was very knowledgeable and answered all our queries regarding the murals and their history. It was great way to visit all those murals and explore some good trails. I would highly recommend this tour.”
